Composed Abstraction™ | Founded by Joanna Wolthuizen

Reflection. Abstraction. The persistence of meaning over time.

The preservation of what remains after memory has softened and shifted.

Composed Abstraction™ is my exploration of painting as a vessel for memory, place, and emotional presence.

Through measured relationships of colour, proportion, and geometry, I construct compositions that inhabit a space between architecture and reverie.

Abstraction, for me, is not about losing meaning, but preserving what remains after memory has softened and shifted.

Fragments of landscape emerge and dissolve. Familiar structures become impressions. Places once inhabited physically continue to exist emotionally.

Each painting develops slowly, guided by intuition within constraint. Edges clarify, colour settles, and space becomes quiet enough for perception to deepen.

I am interested in painting as presence - where visual structure allows feeling to exist without narrative, and abstraction becomes a language for reflection, longing, and the persistence of meaning over time.

Through Composed Abstraction™, I seek a contemporary language in which geometry, memory, and atmosphere resolve into stillness.
